Content and presentation by Stuart was consistently high quality and engaging. Most importantly, each session provided an excellent review of the challenges and opportunities inherent in each area. I feel that all the techniques used, the methods, the videos/powerpoint were extremely good. At no point did I feel that the training was “long” or “dragging on”. From the moment I read about the celebrant training, I knew it was the course for me, Stuart was very helpful answering all questions I had and was very organised in sending out materials ready for the course. The Academy of Professional Celebrants is the best choice you could make if you want to become a Celebrant. The training material is brilliant and definitely everything you need. Also additional information, videos, templates are given in addition to your training manual which is a real life saver to get you started on your journey as a Celebrant. The programme was well delivered and the exercises given were excellent to help you get over your fear and be able to deliver a full ceremony. Everyone that has or is training with APC is in a support group and nobody is precious about what they are doing to get business and support each other, like I have never seen before. Hello Stuart Firstly I would like to say a massive thank you for a highly enjoyable training weekend – even though the subject matter was in the realms of sensitivity and compassion. The training was excellent and well structured. Everything was laid down in such a way that I now feel confident in delivering a Tribute. Not only did you cover the structure of writing a eulogy, which was very in-depth and superb, but by covering the public speaking aspect was an added bonus as was the overall structure of a funeral service. Being part of a community and knowing that I have support afterwards from yourself and fellow celebrants, is just the icing on the cake. I now have the confidence to approach Funeral Directors to offer my services. All I can say now is THANK YOU Stuart !
I would like to say that you and the course was a great course to wedding celebrancy, going from the simple to the more complex, even in just 2 days. The use of Zoom was a great way of doing things in these difficult times, because you were able to share your resources simply and quickly, helping me to use them for the tasks you set. It also helped with Linda and I to interact with you and each other. Rest periods were fine too and welcome as we worked on the tasks you set. Giving up your weekend, shows that you are dedicated to this, and gives me confidence in your course. In addition for you to go the extra mile to support us, was a bonus. Your ability to speak frankly and with knowledge both theory and practically using services you have conducted, also gave you credibility, which is a great confidence builder in myself to know that we are being taught the “right things”. The Wedding Celebrant Academy course was a wonderful experience and it exceeded my expectations. I was slightly worried about studying on an online platform (zoom) as I thought it would be lacking some of the things you would expect to see in a normal classroom. I was wrong, it was absolutely fantastic and I am confident and ready to lead my first wedding. The Academy gave me detailed information and my questions were answered and I enjoyed every moment of the course. The Academy didn’t go too quick and she went at a pace that I could grasp everything – if I was to give the Wedding Celebrant Academy course a score, I would give it 10/10. When Stuart briefed the group on what we would achieve within the 3 days, I thought – no way! I recently completed the live online three day funeral celebrant course with the APC. It was incredibly thorough and very intensive. I especially liked having to write eulogies/funerals and deliver them to both Stuart and the other attendees.... really jumping in at the deep end but what great practice!.... very confidence-building and so helpful to get immediate 1-2-1 feedback live. The support after the course is especially good, with a very active closed Facebook group and useful podcasts. I really feel supported along my journey. Having known a little about celebrancy, but nothing about the funeral business, I now feel equipped and ready to start approaching funeral directors and launching myself into my new career as a funeral celebrant. If you feel called to train in this "vocation", this is definitely the course to choose.

Stuart delivered my Funeral Celebrant training which was excellent in itself, he was clear, approachable and made the course interesting and informative and i was really impressed with the resources that are also provided - but - what mattered even more was the aftercare that has been provided. I was asked to conduct quite a difficult funeral and Stuart supported me throughout, providing advice, taking a look at my service and also checking in with me after the funeral. Starting a training is always a little daunting but Stuart, our trainer, put us at ease very quickly. He is clearly passionate and very knowledgeable so he makes it easy to understand and interact with him. He was very supportive and positive with his appraisal of our work but was also able to offer constructive criticism without offending. I completed the online course with Stuart early April. Having made the decision to embark on a new career path and new vocation, Stuart's breadth and depth of knowledge was second to none. The online course was well paced, informative and sensitively delivered. The materials provided are excellent, the content extensive and an invaluable resource. I completed the training 2-4th March 2022. Really, really impressed at how the course was delivered and thoroughly enjoyed all 3 days. The course content covered everything and I feel well equipped to get started. 3 days later and I have actioned Stuart to start my website and a marketing strategy is underway - feeling competent going forward from here.

I needed to forge a new career and in my late 60's, my options were limited. I had done a fair bit of research and had been attracted by the idea of retraining as a Funeral Celebrant and chose to check out the FCA first as the best site. I phoned Stuart of the Academy, expecting a knock back. But he was so positive, so welcoming, and my age seemed no barrier at all. The 3 day training was intense, the homework hard but I came away feeling totally prepared fir my new career. I recently attended a virtual course with Stuart Logan from the Academy, although the course was online it was still very engaging and interactive. I was asked by a friend of mine who has autoimmune liver disease if I knew any female celebrants as she was getting her affairs in order in case she didn’t get a transplant, I didn’t know any and was too old to be a live doner so I just said can I do it for you. She just said, would you and I said of course but do I need to do a course. So having had a quick look on line I enrolled on a one to one three day course with Stuart and actually really enjoyed it. The literature provided is very comprehensive and it seems to be constantly added to and updated. I am desperately hoping that I can have lots of years before my friends time out but I feel well equipped to carry out funerals now and hopefully can celebrate a few other lives before hers.

I should have been completing the course face to face in a training environment, however due to Covid it was moved online. I won’t lie, I was extremely dubious, as I really wanted that face to face experience and interaction. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The course was totally interactive, Stuart Logan our Trainer had an absolute wealth of knowledge and experience. He was personable, friendly, and was able to answer every question thrown at him. Stuart our tutor was an absolute diplomat, warm, very ordinary, very caring, ready to go to great lengths to give extra help. His style with sufficiently conceptual for each student to find for oneself a way of becoming an inspired celebrant. With such a good role model, I expect to maintain my full commitment to those we serve and not ever become stale. We did five evenings of well focused work. But we also had a great handbook with really effective prompt and admin sheets. A vault of articles, and videos helped one follow one's own interests- meeting ones needs. Stuart offered to help with marketing and creating a website for each celebrant. This is a superb additional service- which seems to have been done to great effect for previous students. And I have no complaints regarding the modest fee Stuart will charge me for this add on. Stuart's approach to assessment also impressed me. He did criterion assessing- as one expected. You have to demonstrate practical skills after all. But he added normative assessing to the mix. This involves addressing signs of skills and qualities that make a student stand out. Five nights of training might be a little short but firstly the material is extremely well streamlined. Secondly the handbook and vault of resources give the eager student plenty of additional stimulus. This is a course for the eager and inspired student. But then who'd want a celebrant who was not eager or inspired.
As for many people, 2020 was a life-changing year - dealing with the pandemic and the fallout from losing friends and family - and whilst re-evaluating my life and career, I decided to leave the NHS after many years of service and have a complete change of path. I have always loved writing and I'm very much a people's person - so what better choice of career than to become a Life Celebrant - helping those who want to celebrate a life passed, new beginning or union. After much research, I found The Academy of Professional Celebrants and signed up initially for their Funeral Celebrant course. Stuart led the 3 day session - and he gave us all the tools to be able to start leading services and set up a business. Not only this, but his long experience in the funeral industry enables him to help with any situation you may encounter - he's already been there & done it! I was so impressed with the course and the Academy, I decided to enrol on the Wedding Celebrant course as well - to give me a broader base for my new business - The team are knowledgeable and helpful - and are always on hand for support if you need it. Over the past 10 weeks, since completing the Funeral course, I have held 27 services - and I have 6 more in the diary for the coming couple of weeks! I'm working on my wedding contacts too - and although this side will naturally be slower to pick up - I'm confident with the knowledge I have learned and the support the Academy offers - my wedding bookings will soon start to come through. I was very lucky to be trained by Stuart for the Funeral Celebrant Course just this week.There was myself and one other lady and I felt we really had all Stuarts time and attention and he has so much knowledge and experience in this field. I was at ease straightaway but he did ask that if there was something i did not understand as he would explain it in a different way. Luckily he has such a brilliant training style that I felt he covered every aspect so well and it was not necessary for me to ask him to explain further.
